The steep and rocky terrain continue to be an issue for securing portions of the fire. Crews laid hose lines and prepared 016 Road for a scheduled burnout today. Haynes Fire Smoke was visible in the northeast part of the fire due to large down and dead fuels being consumed in the area. Some resources will move over to the Haynes Fire to assist with suppression. Firefighters will continue to build direct and indirect line today in their efforts to reach 100% containment. Iron Fire Crews made outstanding progress yesterday and were able to increase containment to 75%, assisted by helicopters dropping water on hot spots. Hot spots remain in the South Fork of Big Deer Creek and on Gant Ridge on the Mud Lick Fire.

Hot, dry weather continues to contribute to the critically dry fuels with fuel moisture below 9%. Constructed firelines held and there was very little growth on the Iron and Haynes fires. See the Forest’s website for full descriptions of road closures and fire restrictions at Fire Behavior Stronger winds from the northwest tested fire lines yesterday. An area closure is in place for the Iron Fire. Road closures are in place for Baldy Basin (NFSR #0152), Haynes Basin Rd (NFSR #60016), K-Mountain (NFSR #60427), Twelvemile Creek Rd (NFSR #60014), Ridge Road (020) north of Williams Creek Summit and McDevitt (NFSR #0150). Mud Lick Fire - 16,692 Acres - 0% ContainedĮvacuations, Road and Trail Closures, and Restrictions Evacuations are in place for Panther Creek (NFSR 055) from Deep Creek north to the main Salmon River Road (NFSR 030) and in Napias Creek (NFSR 0242). Yesterday Governor Little visited the ICP to receive a briefing from operations about the status of the fires.
